Calls for proposals

PhD-courses of relevance for population research

The strategic research area EpiHealth - Epidemiology for Health - together with LUPOP - Lund University Population Research Platform - now opens a call for proposals for new PhD - courses of relevance for population research. We will fund 3 - 5 courses during 2018 related to e.g. epidemiological data analysis, medical statistics, biobank studies, bioinformatics or related to register-based research in general.

Our initiative will fund courses in a two-step procedure:

1) Course development

In the first step, you can apply for funding (SEK 25 000 maximum) in order to develop a new course. Submit a course title, aim, target group, no. of ECTS credits, learning outcomes and a brief description of the course content. If the course is accepted for further development, the funding will be available once the board of doctoral studies at the medical faculty has approved your course plan. You can find examples of templates for course plans here.

2) Course implementation

When the course plan is approved, you can apply for funding in order to implement the course. With your application you should enclose the course plan, budget (a template is available on request) and a tentative schedule for the course. The budget should normally not exceed SEK 125 0000. Approved courses will be announced and administrated in line with other courses for doctoral students at the medical faculty, see link. There will be a course fee of approx. SEK 5000 for senior researchers taking a course of 1.5 ECTS credits.

We will process the applications on a first come - first served basis. Thus, you should send in your first step-application as soon as possible, but no later than 15 March 2018 to

Helena Jernström, EpiHealth, responsible for the PhD-course programme in Epidemiology and Medical Statistics
